Collage Kiwi

We are learning about using textured images to create a collage picture.

We created a collage kiwi to show what we have learned.

I found it easy to find the shape and the texture colour.

I found it hard to to make the feet.

I really enjoyed making my collage kiwi.

Next time I need to make a different animal.

 We are learning about how plants need sunlight to grow.

I found it easy to replant our plants.

I found it hard to bury the plant while my partner was holding it because her hand was in the way.

I really enjoyed replanting plants even when some people's plants weren't ready.

Next time I need to be more helpful with my partner.

Recount Writing - On Friday morning

 On Friday morning

On Friday morning my family and I drove to Kerikeri to play golf and have some lunch.

First we drove to Kerikeri and the mini golf place. I was feeling excited. My mouth was wide open and when we got there I was jumping up and down and I had a big smile on my face. When we got there, I said to my mum, “Can we play adults vs kids?” She said, “Yes.” Me and Dallas said, “We're going to win.” Mum said, “No you're not because I always win at mini golf.” 

Then we got our sticks and started to play. We first started at number 1 and we went all the way to 18. 

I was feeling glad and amazed by all of my fantastic work. Me and Dallas were as happy as clowns. Next we went to lunch. For lunch we had sushi. It was very yummy.

After that we drove back to Kaikohe to pick up Mahu from Whiz Kids. Dallas was playing I spy.

We went home to wait for my dad to call. Shortly after my dad called. I was as happy as a clown to see my dad, but my mum said, “We will go later on.” 

Later on we walked to the Warehouse to see my dad. Me and Mahu walked in the Warehouse but before that my dad said, “Here is 15 dollars and I will come with you.” We were very excited. Then we walked into the Warehouse. Mahu ran in because he was as happy a clown to go into the Warehouse. I gave Mahu 5 dollars to buy whatever he wanted. He bought a paw patrol toy. I thought he was going to get a car toy but I was wrong. I got a barbie toy.Then we went to pay for our toys. My dad said, “Are you sure you don’t want anything else?” Me and Mahu said, “Yes.”Then we finally got to the front by the counter. My dad said to Mahu, “Put your toy up on the counter.” But Mahu said, “No!” He doesn't like letting anyone touch his toys, also he will bite you. Then the check out women said, “It’s ok because I already know it's 5 dollars.” I thought that she didn’t know the price. I was glad to get my barbie toy and then my dad gave the lady the money. Finally we went out of the shop and hopped in my dad's car and went to Mangamuka.

I had a fantastic day.

What is sound?

Sound is energy,like light or electricity.          

How is sound made?

Sounds are created when something vibrates       

How does sound travel?

Sound travels when something vibrates and the vibrations hit the particles that make more and more to travel to our eardrum that travel though the bone and go though the cochlea and sends the message to the brain.

How do we hear sounds?

Sound waves enter the outer ear and travel through a narrow passageway called the ear canal, which leads to the eardrum. The eardrum vibrates from the incoming sound waves and sends these vibrations to three tiny bones in the middle ear so the cochlear sends the message to the brain.

Why can’t sound be heard in space?

Because there is no air or water in space.

We were learning about sound facts like why can't we hear sound in space.

I found it easy to do all of the answers by myself like how do we hear sound.

I found it hard to think about interesting words like cochlear.

I really enjoyed learning about sound.

Next time I need to add more interesting words.

Letter to my mum and dad.

WALT talk about what we are learning.I wanted to share with my family what I was learning about sound.

Dear Mum and Dad.

Dear Mum and Dad in my class I am learning about sound.

Sound has power because when you make a loud sound the hundreds and thousands move.

Sound is energy. When you make a noise it vibrates.

A tuning fork has vibration in it because when you hit it, it feels like a little buzz.

When you make a noise it vibrates and the particles make more and more with the sound so it goes all the way to your ear and through the eardrum. 

I think sound is made with power because when you hit the tuning fork and you put it on the ping pong ball it moves by itself.

The noise travels with air waves, particles and vibrations.

When you blow into a hole in the middle it will make a sound but when you block the other side it makes a different sound.

When you make a noise it vibrates and the sound goes to the particles that make more and more to get to your ears and it goes to our eardrum and through the three bones in our ear and then it goes to the cochlea with the liquid inside.

When you hit the tuning fork and put it in the water it makes the water splash.

Recount writing - Flooding

WALT make our writing more interesting for our readers.

Flooding
On Friday afternoon my family and I were at home. 
It was pouring down with rain. It rained and it rained and it rained. It rained so hard that our backyard and our driveway were covered with water. There was water everywhere. My mum was devastated but my nan and papa said, “Lucky it didn’t do any damage.”
The kids in my family were amazed to see the flood waters covering everywhere. It looked like a big huge river was just at our door. We wanted to go swimming.
Me and my brothers asked my mum if we could go for a swim in the flood. She said yes so we went out in the flood and had a swim. It was very deep and we all did manus. Then it was lunchtime so we went back inside and had lunch. It was delicious and tasty. After lunch, Dallas said, “Let's go back outside for another swim in the flood.” 
First we got into our togs. Then we went outside and had a very big swim. Next my mum came out and said, “Come inside now, it is getting late.”
After that we went for a shower and then we watched a movie. Finally my mum said, “Go to bed.”

On Saturday On Saturday I went to the movies in Kerikeri with my two aunties and my uncle and my 

cousins. First we got ready to go to the movies.I got dressed and I put on my shoes. When we were getting ready to go to the movies I was saying to my cousin,”Should we go outside when we are finished?” She said, “Yes. Next we went to the movies. When we were going to the movies I said to my cousin, ``Do you want to play gacha life?” She said,”Yes” So we played gach life. It was fun playing gach life. I felt happy and I was laughing because my cousin made a funny person. Then we finally got to the movies. When we got to the movies, me and my cousin were saying to my aunty, “Can we get some ice cream?” She said “Yes”. We were so happy that we could get ice cream. After that we got some popcorn and our tickets and then we went to watch the movie. The movie was Son
ic the Hedgehog. When we were watching the movie and eating our popcorn, it was so cool. I felt very happy. The popcorn was very buttery to me and my cousin. I felt amazing because we were at the movies and I thought it was very fun. Finally we went home. I had a blast because I got to go to the movies with my aunties and uncle and my cousins. I had a great time.

On Tuesday night

I have learnt how to writ a better story.

 On Tuesday night I went to king wah. I went with my mum and baby brother. We were going out for dinner because it was Te Ihi’s birthday.

First my mum got Mahu ready. He was jumping up and down after he got dressed.

Then I got dressed for king wah and I went to play with Mahu and we were laughing. 

Mahu went to my mum and I went to my room.

Next me and Mahu got in the car and I got in the car and mum drove to Paihia.

I was excited because we were going to king wah.

After that we finally got there and I saw Dallas and Dakota. My mum went to pay and Mahu went with Dallas and one of my other cousin’s and I went by Dakota and we played on her phone. Then  we got to choose our food. I chose meat and my mum chose noodles.Then we went to sit down.

Then we all went outside and played tag.

Finally we went home. I felt happy because I went to King Wah.

On Saturday I went to Mangamuka. 

I went with my aunty.  

First, my aunty picked me up from the netball courts. 

When my aunty was picking me up, I said to my aunty, “Where are we going Aunty Ray?” 

She said, “We are going to Manaia’s house.”  

Next, we were in Paihia. 

Aunty Rey said, “Do you want to go to Pizza Hut? 

I said, “Yes.”  

After that, we went to Aunty Deidre’s house. 

When me and Aunty Rey were going inside,

I said to Aunty Rey, “Where is Manaia? 

Aunty Rey said, “Manaia is in Kaitaia.”  

Then we finally got to Manaia’s house. 

When we were at Manaia’s house,

I said, “We beat them.”  Aunty Rey said, “Yes.”  

Finally Manaia got home. 

When she got home, I said, “Hi Manaia.” 

Manaia said, “Hi” back.

I said, “Do you want to watch youtube?” 

Manaia said, “Yes.” 

I felt happy because I got to see Manaia.

started to fight.

Then the Maori chiefs needed help.

So they sent a letter to the king.

The king sent James Busby and

William Hobson to help.

Then they had a meeting with the Maori chiefs.

They made some rules. They made a treaty.

Then they all signed the

Treaty of Waitangi.

They all became partners.
