First the Maori people found NZ.

Then the English people came to NZ.

Next lots of English people came. They

started to fight.

Then the Maori chiefs needed help.

So they sent a letter to the king.

The king sent James Busby and

William Hobson to help.

Then they had a meeting with the Maori chiefs.

They made some rules. They made a treaty.

Then they all signed the

Treaty of Waitangi.

They all became partners.
